We should be told what council chiefs are paid

The culture of over-inflated salaries in local government is fast turning into a national scandal.

The MPs' expenses scandal has changed fundamentally the way we view public servants and how they spend our money. Any remaining notion of a public-service ethos has been replaced by scepticism and suspicion – unfortunate, perhaps, but understandable in the light of the cynical abuses this newspaper uncovered.

It was to address this public mood that the Government announced last year that it intended to make the pay and conditions enjoyed by senior local government officers more transparent.

It was a move that was long overdue. Under Labour, the salary structure in local authorities has been transformed. Council executives are no longer the poor relations of the private sector, but taxpayer-funded elite.

More than 100 of them are paid over £150,000 a year, a situation Gordon Brown described before Christmas as "unacceptable". He added that money that should be spent on services was "going on excessive salaries and unjustified bonuses, far beyond the expectation of the majority of workers".

The Government's solution was to publish full details of the remuneration of the most senior council executives – their salaries, bonuses, pensions, perks and pay-offs. What better way of slowing the earnings merry-go-round than by exposing pay details to full public scrutiny? That was the theory, at least – but it reckoned without the ability of the local authority machine to fight back. Material disclosed through Freedom of Information requests reveals the full, self-serving nature of council executives' objections to greater transparency.

Publishing such details, they warned, would lead to officials being "personally targeted by less stable persons in the community", "could lead to personal attacks" and "families could be at risk of abuse and children of bullying".

In other words, if council taxpayers really knew how their money was being spent, they would be tempted to resort to violence. What an admission!

Such bluster would be comical if it had not proved so effective – for the Government has caved in. Its original proposals would have seen the remuneration details of the most senior 2,500 council officials published. Now, after this shameless display of shroud-waving by the various associations that act for council executives, the new rules will apply only to the 114 who earn more than £150,000 a year. The rest can continue to enjoy their anonymity.

This is unacceptable. The culture of over-inflated salaries in local government is fast turning into a national scandal, and the spectacle of the Government crumbling at the first whiff of grapeshot is a humiliating one. John Denham, the Communities Secretary, must restore the original proposals at once.

NF FOREIGN POLICY

When the National Front comes into Government then the withdrawal from the European Union of Great Britain will be a top priority. We aim to replace this unholy economic and political shibboleth with a new economic order based on the resurrection of a White Commonwealth of nations locked into mutually agreeable economic and political aid.
The nations involved would be Great Britain, Gibraltar, The Falkland Islands, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
We would also be concerned about the seven and a half million White folk – our kindred – who are stranded in Africa and subject to abuse and attacks by the ‘emerging’ Black dictatorships they are forced to live under. A NF Government would negotiate at whatever cost, an area of land – and the Natal area of South Africa springs to mind which would become a White only self-governing country and be also part of the resurrected White Commonwealth. We would of course immediately scrap the ridiculous multi-racial Commonwealth.  
The NF would also look at the possibility of rejoining EFTA – the European Free Trade Association – a viable alternative to trading with Europe WITHOUT EU forced membership.

SO YOU’VE JOINED THE NF!
So you have just joined the NF! What can you do to help? Everyone can do their bit whatever their age, job or status.
The first thing is to find out if there is a National Front unit near you. Check out the Contacts page on the main NF website www.national-front.org.uk and if there is then email them or give them a ring. The local organiser will only be too pleased to hear from you and will let you know of meetings and activities in your area.

If you haven’t got a NF unit near you then why not become a NF Contact?  The Front organisation is as follows – Contact (a person in a new area who after liaising with the Organisation Department of the NF (branchdevelpment@mail.com), you can open an email account and if possible a mobile telephone contact number which will then be placed on the Contacts page of the website.

If you have two or more active members then you can apply to be registered as a Unit. Again contact the Organisation Department. A unit is the first and major step into eventually becoming a Branch of the NF, which has its own bank account, PO Box address, branch monthly meetings and an elected branch committee.

Above NF Branch, the country is organised into Regions each with its own Regional Organiser and even regional teams.

Things you can do immediately:-

·         Write to your local paper telling them a NF unit is active in your area

·         Take out a subscription to the monthly party newspaper “Britain First” and/or order bulk copies for distribution.

·         Order a supply of leaflets and stickers to spread the word about the NF’s policies in your locality. Door to door leafleting is an easy way to get people interested and brings in enquires and new members. Always try and visit new enquiries. You can usually get them signed up to membership.

·         Talk to family and friends and you’ll be surprised how many agree with the racial-nationalist polices of the National Front already!

THE POLITICS SHOW SUNDAY FEB 21^st 12 noon
BBC Yorkshire - The Politics Show on Sunday Feb 21^st which is be aired at 12 noon features an interview with Tom Linden, NF Press and Publicity Officer and also with Steve Smith, NF Burnley Organiser. On Friday 19^th Feb, Radio Leeds broadcast hourly news bulletins throughout the day mentioning the increasing number of patriots leaving the BNP and coming over to the racial-nationalist National Front. The Politics Show will be available nationally on BBC iPlayer one hour after its transmission.

YOUNG, ANGRY AND WHITE
This was broadcast last Friday and gave some excellent publicity to the National Front and the YNF. Well done to all concerned and the fearless young White Nationalist who had the courage to stand up and say what we are all thinking! Over 50 enquiries were received as a result of the programme.

The reason for this is because they are allowing non-Whites join the BNP. Being true nationalists they saw that the NF was the only real racial-Nationalist party left to represent them. NF SCOTLAND MEETING 13^th FEBRUARY 2010
Report from Saturday’s meeting: 13th February 2010 - Glasgow
Saturday was a resounding victory for the NF in Scotland.
Over 40 white British nationalists attended a meeting in the west end of Glasgow; it was a great chance for people to meet. The meeting lasted over 1.5 hours and the chair of the meeting was keen for those in attendance to air their views on the way forward for the NF in Scotland. Some very valid and constructive points were made and welcomed. The main point of the meeting was unity and working together for our children's future. There were also a fair few new members who joined today, and a collection taken at the end of the meeting for the NF in Scotland. Contacts came forward for Falkirk and Dundee so that was positive and a future meeting is on the cards for these areas soon.
Despite internet based threats from Red/Marxist/IRA supporting filth the meeting went ahead, the cowardly scum failed to show and the day and future days are ours!
From the feedback after the meeting the next one will be 3 times stronger, and we will become more focused on a positive route to success for the NF here in Scotland.
