COUNCILS CANNOT COPE WITH IMMIGRATION

BRITAIN’S cash-strapped councils sent out a stark message yesterday that they are struggling to cope with the impact of high immigration.

Public services such as schools and hospitals are under “enormous strain’’ and beginning to “crack’’, they said.

Council leaders also challenged the claim by ministers that three-quarters of a million eastern European immigrants have gone home.

They reported evidence that eastern European couples are staying, and children are taking up places in schools.

The councils said funding fails to recognise true numbers and they fear budget cuts will add to the problem.

The warning came from three towns particularly hard-hit by immigration after ex-communist countries joined the EU in 2004 and Britain gave their citizens the right to work here.

Ruth Bagley, chief executive of Slough Council in Berkshire, where one primary school class has 22 languages spoken, said the prospect of having to tighten their belts further in future was a “massive concern’’.

Immigrants may not be arriving as quickly as in the past “but the anecdotal evidence is that more people are still coming – and staying’’, she added.

Peter Hiller, of Peterborough City Council, said public services had coped so far ‘’but as immigration continues the cracks are beginning to show. We have no evidence of a decline in numbers”.

Boston in Lincolnshire has also seen a huge growth in overseas residents, drawn by agricultural work.

Why oh why do the people not listen to us we have been saying for years that unfettered immigration was wrong and needed to be stopped.

The National Front has a legal policy of implementing a programme of humane repatriation for all non British indigenous peoples.

The only economic benefit the immigrant brings is cheap labour that’s all.

The National Front calls for an end to 21^st centenary slave wages and a British working wage for British workers.

Never mind the LIEbour spin that says the British will not do these jobs, who did them before the immigrants arrived yes us, we did.

Pay a British citizen a decent wage and we will do any job.
